The Sisters Grimm is a delightful book about 2 young girls, Sabrina & Daphne, who are orphaned & are brought to their grandmother's house in the town of Everafter. Living at Granny Relda's (Grimm) house with them are Elvis, a very large & loving dog, Mr. Canis, Granny Relda's friend, and Puck, the mischievous boy who Granny has taken in. The sisters are almost immediately drawn in to a mystery, finding out that detective-ing is the family business. In solving this crime, they meet many familiar fairy-tale creatures, both pleasant & not. It is funny and at times creepy, but great fun for kids and adults. I read this book about 18 months ago & am buying it for my niece, who loves to read. With all of the references to fairy tale creatures (and surprisingly Shakespeare) and those characters not assuming their traditional roles, it's an entertaining read.

Action, Adventure, And funky colored pasta, the perfect combination for any book. In Ferryport Landing, anything is possible, as sisters Sabrina and Daphne soon discover. What seems to be a normal (although boring) town soon becomes the scene of a mystery unlike anything the girls have ever seen, and they are right in the middle of it. With fairy-tale characters such as Prince Charming, the Three Little Pigs, Jack (of the Jack and the bean stock story) And The Big Bad Wolf, put into a modern, small town setting you never know what can happen.

The only problem I have with these books is how annoying Sabrina is, and, after reading these reviews, I see that a lot of other people have that problem too. But, if you feel like giving up on these books, don't. You'll be happy you read them.
Clever, funny, smart, and full of wonderful reveals. I've been wanting to start this series for a long time, but ever since my wife and I opened a bookstore (21 years ago), I've been swimming in books that I SIMPLY MUST READ. But now I've gone and done it I've started the series. And it is every bit as good as my children have been promising me.

My oldest child read the series while it was being written, meaning she had to wait between books. It's very humorous to hear her talk Oh, you want borrow book two now, huh? (this series lives on a shelf in her room) Do you KNOW how long I had to wait for book two? or book 3? or book 4? (then she narrows her eyes, and a cold chill seeps into her voice ) I had to wait between every book in this series. Do you have ANY idea how lucky you have it?

This series (The Sisters Grimm) by Michael Buckley are amazing! Seriously you can't get my sister to pick up a book for anything, but every time a new book would come out we would have to buy it right away (of course I would have to read it to her lol). This series is about two sisters who have to go live with their grandmother, and not only do they find out fairy-tales are real but their family is at the center of it. There is mystery, intrigue, magic, friendship, love, sacrifice, but most important of all family! This is a great series for kids and adults alike, because I am 23 and I still enjoy listening to these books on audio!
This book is the first in the Sisters Grimm series, and what a wonderful first book it is!! Full of amazing characters, an interesting plot, and hilarious moments, this book is sure to be a favorite for... Well, forever! I absolutely loved this first story of Sabrina and Daphne Grimm. It tells the story of these two girls who, after their parents abandoned them, move in with their supposedly dead Granny Relda who lives in Ferryport Landing. There, Relda reaches the two about the family business investigating mysteries for the Everafters a.k.a. fairy tale creatures who live in the town. Sabrina thinks that Granny Relda is tricking them, but when she gets kidnapped by a giant, Sabrina begins to believe the woman. A wonderful story perseverance and trust. First in the series, and I ate it up! I simply cannot wait to read the rest!!
I LOVED this series and I am an adult woman. It nearly ranked up there with Harry Potter! My kiddos loved the story as well. Each book it better than the last and I really wish they would make a movie! It would be even better than the Spiderwick movie if they did. Great coming of age, thrilling, magic, sorrow, and just a touch of innocent romance. There are great lessons to be learned such as bravery, you can do anyting that you put your mind too, family values, and doing the right thing.
There is another version of this book, and I prefer that one. Was really disappointed when we started reading this one, it leaves parts of the other version out. Should have sent it back to get the one I loved....Oh well. Basically the same thing, just slightly different than the other.
I love this book and bought enough to have a class set. I've read it aloud to my class for 10 years previously! I was a little disappointed that this edition changed certain parts a bit- like they didn't trust the reader to use their own inferencing or skills of deduction to figure it out. I also hated the cover graphics compared to previous editions. This is a fantastic series for kids though! The story is engaging and exciting. The series is great for 4-5 graders or if you had a high level 3rd grade reader.
