After that heart breaking ending of the last book, I wasn't sure the author would be able to keep me captivated with this book. I was WRONG! I was on the edge of my seat and couldn't put it down the whole time! Mia Knight knows how to write a good story! This would make a great tv series!!!!!

Lyla is trying to rebuild her life after the seemingly endless tragedies she suffered through. She and Carmen go out on their own, their only goal being to keep moving forward day by day. But Lyla can't run from Gavin no matter how hard she tries.
Gavin finds Lyla, marries her on the spot and forces her to come home with promises of being a better man. Lyla is obviously doubtful, but Gavin does everything in his power to keep her happy, and make her feel loved.

I fell head over heels for Gavin in this book. My heart ached for Carmen, but I loved how fiercely loyal and kind she is to Lyla despite carrying her own grief. Even Blade redeemed himself in this book. We also meet a couple new characters, and I can't wait to find out more about Marcus. Oh and of course finally find out the identity of the new crime lord!

I loved this continuation. OMG!

Carmen and Lyla have ran off into the sunset and suddenly Gavin and his men found them and he is pissed. He got out of jail and his mission in life was to find her. He forces Lyla to marry him and finds out that Carmen helped her escape both times.

It takes a while to readjust for all of them. Plus an official wedding and family members who are constantly begging for money. Lyla has PTSD and is slowly recovering. Working at a dog shelter is sooo therapeutic for her. And she adopts one, much to Gavin's demise, lol. He wants to be the only man in her life, hehe.

But with a baby on the way, and the killer still on the loose, it's incredibly dangerous. The only way that they can be saved is it Gavin goes back to the underworld and kills their evil foe.
Far out what a roller coaster ride this book was. It was freaking awesome.

At first I was a bit disappointed that Gavin found her so quickly and we didn't get to delve too deeply into her being injured or deal with Gavin ignoring her. But then you were quickly transported into Gavin trying his hardest to win her back and it was fine.

It was enjoyable to see Layla evolve and become even stronger than what she already was. The way she took no shit from Gavin and then her Dad was especially good to see.

Gavin was also good to see and read from his POV and read his deep love for Kayla. Had a few chuckles of his possessivness. Especially with Marcus.

Finding out more about Blade was really nice. I hope he finds his someone special. Look forward to Carmens story.

This book was just as enjoyable as the first. I love the way Mia has written these books in a great flowing story which makes you feel for each character. Gets you hooked and the bonus scenes are great as well.
This is the second book of the Crime Lord Series, which has 3 books. I had this book for a long while on my wishlist and finally I decided to purchase it...and boy was I surprised! Great story, strong and likable main characters and lots of twist and turns (even though a few are sort of predictable), you have the typical alpha male mob boss who is a well developed character (same goes for the female main character) and an equally strong and smart h - It has action, very steamy scenes and super great second characters as well - The only reason I took half of star is that at times it was a bit repetitive. - Also, on a personal note to the author, seeing that she has only published 2 Books so far (at least on .Com), it would have been nice to maybe offer the first book for a symbolic price or for free for a limited time of period like many authors do to attract more readers and cultivate a fan base - considering she is not known I thought a bit much to pay full price for both books.

The second book in the series Recaptured by the Crime Lord, is no less! This book continues to keep you on the edge of the seat wondering what will happen next. Gavin and Lyla's story continues leaving off on another cliffhanger but no need to worry the conclusion of Gavin and Lyla's story is already out! You Don't Have To Wait! If you haven't read book 1, Crime Lord' s Captive, you need to go back and read it first for the complete picture! Mia Knight is incredible! I devour books! It is rare for me to find a book or a series that gets my heart pounding like this series! Mia Knight brings you into the book, into her world, and mind, making you feel like you are there with Lyla and Gavin. You become part of the book. For me, I felt like I was Lyla. I felt her happiness, her terror, her anger, and her determination! I highly recommend the Crime Lord Series by Mia Knight for one hell of an action-packed, emotional, and HOT series that leaves you begging for more!
In this second book in the Crime Lord series, Lyla and Carmine have gone on the road in an RV to escape the violence that took place in Vegas, killing Gavin's father and Carmine's husband. A year and a half later Gavin catches up to them and hauls them back to Vegas. Despite her determination not to go back to him, it takes only a short time for Gavin to coax them back into a relationship.
The characters in this book are what make the story so good. There is not as much violence in this story as in the first book, but the new crime lord, who committed the earlier violence, is still out there and Gavin has only had a few clues as to his identity.
